Thanksgiving in Portland
So, this post is a bit late, but posted nonetheless. Thanksgiving here in Portland was a lot of fun! It was great to have a house full of people, and everyone thought the food was a success. For someone like me who isn’t necessarily known in the family as the best cook, it felt good to know people enjoyed it. I was in charge of the turkey; Mom and my friend Jen brought some goodies, too, which really helped. I had 10 people over for dinner, plenty of food, and enough sports on TV to last for months.
One thing that Mom, Katie and I did that we’d never done before was build a gingerbread house! It was actually a lot of fun, and it’s still sitting atop my dining room table. It’s the perfect Christmas decoration. In fact, it looks so good, several people have asked me, “Can I eat part of it?”
We did quite a bit of exploring while the family was here in town. One place that we checked out was Washington Park near my house. This is quite possibly my favorite place in Portland and it was neat to share it with those closest to me. Visiting the gardens in the winter is a lot different than doing so in the summer (obviously). Regardless of the time of year, it’s still beautiful. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to check it out.
Overall, it was a fantastic weekend. Good shopping, quality family time, and wonderful memories.
