Simple Pleasure: Year of Marital Firsts
It’s Christmastime! A year ago, Pete and I were visiting each others’ family over the holiday in both Wisconsin and Nevada. Shorty thereafter we were engaged and planning for a future as a married couple. After a few months of planning our wedding and upcoming life, we were married and living together in Oklahoma. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind (albeit a happy and welcome one), and I couldn’t be merrier.
Now that we’re married, I catch myself thinking, “Wow, this is our first [fill in the blank] as a married couple!”
This is our first vacation as a married couple! This is our first Thanksgiving since being married!
It might seem a bit corny to think these thoughts, but I’m content with corniness every once in a while. And if it means I get to be corny with my husband, then sign me up. I’m sure that over the next year, many more “first” will pop up on my internal scrolling display.
So, in that vein, this is our first Christmas as the Biers!

Love this picture of you two in your first home as a married couple
. Wish we could have seen you over Christmas, but I suppose if you went anywhere it would be Las Vegas. Still, we can’t WAIT to see you in Hawaii on OUR first trip as a married couple (other than our mini-moon, of course). Love you.
Same here! It occurred to me over the holiday that my parent’s home is no longer in Washington, but in Vegas! So strange… Can’t wait to see you guys again, and how neat is it that we’re going through a year of marital firsts together?
