Simple Pleasure: Travel With Loved Ones
I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that my view and enjoyment of travel has changed.
When I was younger, the thrill of the unknown and potential possibilities were what inspired many of my travels. It was this thrill that inspired my trips to Honduras, Argentina, and Spain. Not knowing what could happen, or what to expect while on the road, inspired me to venture beyond my comfort zone and travel solo. While this discomfort might cause some people to shy away from traveling alone, I definitely attribute some of my most memorable travel moments to it. For that, I will forever be grateful.
Now that I’ve met my husband, all I want to do is experience life and create memories with him wherever we go. Traveling is less about the possibilities and more about the memories that our togetherness brings. It’s a somewhat strange transition for me, as I’ve become quite comfortable traveling as a “single”. When I was in Mallorca, and my sister and brother-in-law came to visit, it was such a treat to have family to walk with through the market or to go shopping with in the city.
Perhaps since I’ve done so much traveling on my own I’m able to really appreciate the shared travel with loved ones. It’s refreshing to be able to look back on travel memories with family and friends and reminisce about fond moments together.
