Our Second Island-Hop to Kauai
As I mentioned in this post, we were eagerly anticipating our second trip to Kauai earlier this fall. Spending time exploring the island was high on our list of to-dos, as was spending quality time with the family.
Our week-long vacation was so much fun! We stayed at the Barking Sands Beach Cottages with my parents, which was a really pleasant place to stay. (We stayed in a two-bedroom, one-bath cottage with a full kitchen, dining and living room.) We had an ocean-front cottage with a lanai fronting the Pacific Ocean. Our views were spectacular!
We were able to do many of the things that we had wanted to do while on-island, and then some! Taking a trip with a one-year old was quite a bit different than traveling with a 4-month old. In fact, we even celebrated our little girl’s birthday during this trip.
Waimea Canyon is just gorgeous, and we got to see multiple different views of it during our drive along the scenic highway.
In fact, while we were atop the canyon and looking down, we decided that we wanted to see the dramatic coastline from the water by way of an ocean cruise. So, my husband and I had a romantic cruise at sunset and saw the Napali Coast! (Totally recommend doing this if you have the chance.)
Above all else, it was great to spend time with the family and simply enjoy the outdoors. There’s just something about being able to slow down, have a lively conversation or card game at night, and enjoy a colorful sunset that brings peace to one’s heart.
