New York City, Here I Come
In two short weeks, I’ll be heading to New York City for a much anticipated weekend holiday with Pete. When I think of the NYC in November, I think of snacking on roasted chestnuts purchased from a street vendor, meandering through Central Park on a crisp afternoon, and keeping warm inside while sitting next to a friendly fire.
Although shows like Sex and the City may have romanticized the city a bit, I’m still looking forward to our upcoming adventure. Here are some of the things that we’ve got planned, in between our coffee and pint breaks.
We’ve both heard so many wonderful things about this play, and have plans to go check it out firsthand. While I’m excited to see the musical, I’m also excited to visit the historic Gerschwin Theater. For those of you that know me well, you know that I have a fondness and passion for live theater and music. To see and experience a piece of Broadway history like this will be a highlight for me.
As an Army Football alum, Pete was pretty excited about the prospect of watching the Army vs. Rutgers game live at Yankee Stadium. This should be a pretty intense game, and I’m looking forward to dressing up in black and gold (well, my accessories will be gold, anyway) and trying to stay warm in the late fall, NYC weather.
Trip to West Point
One day we’ll take a road trip outside the city to visit West Point. From what I’ve heard, that part of the state is beautiful, particularly in the fall. We’ll be able to see the leaves changing color and experience New York at one of its best times (between the hot, humid summers and snowy winters). Considering that the East Coast plays host to much of our history here in the U.S., and that West Point is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country, I’m excited to experience these two things firsthand.
Some of my friends have given me recommendations on restaurants and must-see to-dos. Do you have any ideas on things to see or do while we’re there?
