Mud Factor: A Very Dirty Race
The weekend started out like a perfect Saturday should: beautiful morning sunshine, clear blue skies, and feeling well-rested from a good night’s sleep.
After that, the day went downhill…and uphill…and through the dirty trenches…real quick.
Pete and some of his Army friends competed in Oklahoma City’s Mud Factor 5K race yesterday. As we parked our car, and crossed paths with some dirty participants from an earlier wave, Pete started getting very excited. With a sly grin on his face, he turned to me and said, “YES. This is gonna be fun.”
The clay dirt caked their bodies and the sun dried it to their sweaty skin. This race could have been advertised as a poor man’s alternative to a spa-given mud bath.
