Mount Saint Helens Hike
Earlier this month I took a hike near Mount Saint Helens, WA. This hike turned out to be a bit different than I expected… Here are a few highlights:
- There was this recently burned car at the base of the trailhead. This sort of freaked me out since I could still smell the burning car flesh. It reminded me for some reason of that movie “Wrong Turn”. Not cool to be hiking alone with that thought in my mind!
- Add on the empty bullet (shotgun?) casings and the hike’s mood became even stranger and more sinister.
- On my way up to the trailhead, I hadn’t come across another human being or car for about 40 minutes. So, if anything were to happen (like in the movie) no one would have been nearby to help me.
Needless to say, I didn’t have a good feeling in my gut about being on this hike alone. Usually when I go hiking alone, I feel very relaxed and peaceful, but my gut definitely didn’t think that this hike was a good one to go on alone. So, I turned around after a few miles and hiked back to my car.
Such a strange outing…
