Happy New Year!
Can you believe 2008 has come and gone? This past year has passed so quickly.
As we start a new year, it feels as if a new chapter in our lives is being written. With the tumultuous events that have happened in 2008, I’m looking to 2009 with a lot of excitement and hope. I’m excited not only for a new president and the promise of change, but for what this year will offer to us as individuals. I can only speak for myself, but with the difficulties of 2008, I’ve learned how to stretch a dollar even further than I normally would, how to rely on family and friends to keep me focused and grounded, and how important it is to find joy in the small things.
On this note, Mom and I are talking about taking a girly trip to Hawaii this summer! We’re looking at traveling to either the Big Island or Kauai, and would really like to explore the natural wonders of the island (whichever on we choose). There’s so much to do there — zip lining, hiking along the volcano, kayaking on the ocean, wandering through the rain forest, going to the spa — and it would be really special to do this with Mom. Dad and I had a great trip to San Diego last summer, and I think it’s time Mom and I do something similar.
