Duke’s Barefoot Bar in Downtown Waikiki
When visiting Waikiki, stopping by Duke’s seems customary. This historic restaurant is named after one of Honolulu’s most famous residents, Duke Paoa Kahahamoku, also known as the Father of International Surfing. He’s a legend here on the island, and there’s a statue dedicated to him along the beach in Waikiki.
This weekend, Pete and I played tourist and ate lunch at this famous bar. It was a typical August afternoon: hot, balmy, and perfect for people watching. We took our time enjoying our food and drinks, and by the time we left Pete and I decided that sometime soon I’d go out and buy us matching bathing suits, just for the fun of it. He’ll be getting some sporty euro-trunks, and I’m on the lookout for a retro-inspired one-piece. That way, the next time we go out to the beach, we’ll be the ones being watched. (*wink*)
