Aloha Photo Friday: Heavenly Hibiscus
After Pete and I got settled into our house, one of the first things I set out to do was plant some flowers.
While we were staying at The Modern Honolulu in downtown Waikiki, Pete and I got some great gardening ideas; the pool area had an abundance of tropical flowers that I associate with places like Hawaii. Not knowing the type of care required for these, Pete and I asked the groundskeeper about them one morning while sipping our cups of coffee.
After having a chat with this friendly gentleman, we decided that the hibiscus, bougainvillea, and plumeria (commonly used in lei-making) would all be suitable for us to plant. These hibiscus plants are currently planted in our front yard, and it’s such a happy sight each time I pull into our driveway or return home from a long walk. There’s just something about having beautiful flowers around me that brings a smile to my face and joy to my life.
